We want to create a community forum which is not driven by any profit but mutual sharing of knowledge with the aim to benefit each other. Food is one of the most important necessities for living beings to survive along with water and air. Lot of animals have very specific food requirements like green grass and plant based foods. However, humans can tolerate almost any type of food may it be plant based, animal based or processed. But this has a downside that not all types of foods which we can digest are healthy also.
Nutrition tells us about not only what type of food is healthy for us, but it also elaborates the amount and timing at which it should be taken. It also focuses on how diseases can be prevented or their effects can be reduced by a healthy diet. Nutritional science since last three decades has influenced people to transform to a low fat diet. Recent studies suggest that this hypotheses was flawed and reduction of fats from our diets actually contributed in increased amount of carbohydrates. Therefore, instead of decrease in heart issues, there has been an enormous increase. There has been an exponential growth in our dependence on sugary beverages and sweet candies. This high amount of sugar intake may have been a real cause of increased mortality rates. In addition, we increased our intake of junk foods which are based on unhealthy transfats. These trends of modern diet led us towards evils of malnutrition, obesity, diabetes and increased heart diseases.
There is a requirement of a widespread awareness of masses with regards to various best practices in the field of healthy nutrition. There is also a need of spreading the knowledge of healthy eating, wellness and healthy lifestyle. There is a huge responsibility on the shoulders of governments and food industries also. There is an ethical requirement of making strategies similar to anti-smoking case where people should be warned related to the evils of high sugar intake and consumption of transfats. Every element of the society is required to play its part in the quest of healthy nutrition to the people.
